Network monitoring
A computer monitor should be closely monitored to be able to ensure a strong information security system. Network monitoring uses a system that does this exact same thing. A network system can notify a network administrator, IT managers or computer security analysts if a system slows downs, experience failing components, or encounter other problems in the system. These notifications can be sent through email, computer alarms or other means of communication.
There are a number of network monitoring systems that can be used. A company can utilize an intrusion detection system that can monitor possible risks of overload, crashes, network connection issued and hardware malfunctions, among others. This system is used primarily to monitor outside activities that may interfere a network system. Network monitoring system can actually be used to evaluate the status and performance of a webserver. A HTTP request can be sent to monitor a web page. Email servers can also use this system and send SMTP request, results can be viewed via IMAP or POP3.
Network monitoring systems can give an administrator a number of network information. These include response time, uptime, and optimization, among others. If a status request failed it simply means that the network is down and no connection was established. User would then be sent a message or an email that reports such failure of activity.
